Estimate your blood alcohol level
Add your drinks, see your estimated BAC over time, when you will reach 0.0 ‰ and how it compares to the legal driving limit in 38 countries.
Widmark formula, minute by minute
Pure alcohol (ml × % ABV × 0.789 g/ml) is divided by body weight and a distribution factor (0.68 male, 0.55 female). Absorption takes 20 to 90 minutes depending on food, elimination 0.10 to 0.20 ‰ per hour. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
An estimate, not a test
Only a calibrated breathalyser or a blood test measures real alcohol. If you drank, do not drive. Several countries, including Slovakia, Czechia and Hungary, apply zero tolerance.
‰ and % BAC
1 ‰ = 0.1 % BAC. The UK and most US states use 0.8 ‰ (0.08 %). Breath readings are about half of the blood value in mg/L (0.5 ‰ ≈ 0.24 mg/L).
This free calculator estimates blood alcohol concentration with the Widmark formula and shows when you will be sober. Legal limits range from 0.0 ‰ (Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary) to 0.8 ‰ (UK, USA). It is not proof of fitness to drive.

FAQ
What is the legal blood alcohol limit for driving?
It depends on the country: 0.0 ‰ in Slovakia, Czechia and Hungary, 0.2 ‰ in Poland and Sweden, 0.5 ‰ in most of Europe, 0.8 ‰ in the UK (England and Wales) and most US states. See the table on this page.
How accurate is a blood alcohol calculator?
It is an estimate based on the Widmark formula and can be off by a few tenths of a promille. It does not know your health, medication or exact absorption, so it is never proof of fitness to drive.
How fast does the body eliminate alcohol?
About 0.10 to 0.20 ‰ per hour, on average 0.15 ‰ (0.015 % BAC). Coffee, cold showers or exercise do not speed it up.
How do ‰ and % BAC relate?
1 ‰ equals 0.1 % BAC (g per 100 ml). So 0.8 ‰ is the same as 0.08 % BAC.
